The Company

Despatch has been serving the metropolitan area since 1890. The company has been owned and operated by the Zuhusky family since 1967. We are a full-service moving and storage company operating in Manhattan and serving the tri-state area. As an agent for NorthAmerican Van Lines, we can accomplish both interstate and international shipments and have access to NAVL's family of 1,150 agencies, more than 6,200 drivers and central services. Despatch has developed a specialty in moving technical, medical and laboratory equipment. The management of estate distribution is another top quality service offered by Despatch.

Despatch is affiliated with the AFL-CIO's United Service Workers of America, Local #339. We have a crew of 12 drivers, 30 helpers, 6 foreman and 10 packers.

Facilities

Despatch is housed in our own 55,000 square foot fireproof steel, concrete and brick warehouse on Broadway at 130th Street in Manhattan, just north of Columbia University. Our ten-story building is equipped with an ADT alarm system and has open, vaulted and palletized storage areas as well as areas with steel shelving or private storage rooms. The company maintains a stable of seven trucks --  five straight trucks and two vans. We also have a forklift and three company automobiles. Our trucks are equipped with lift gates. Please note that our association with NorthAmerican Van Lines allows us to draw upon an unlimited number of vehicles and drivers at any given time. We have a full array of moving equipment including dollies, library conveyors, panel carts, safe jacks, j-bars and ramps as well as masonite and coroflex for site protection. Our crews competently disassemble and reassemble typical household and office furnishings when required using the appropriate tools. We use a variety of packing materials including paper, paper pads, movers pads, bubble and shrink wrap and cartons of all sizes. In addition, Despatch has a custom crating shop with facilities for fine art, statuary, chandeliers, etc.
